We're TINY! It's all quality over quantity these days. Our facilities include three interior stalls, a tackroom and a utility room; three shedrow-styled stalls attached to little corrals (behind the barn); two larger paddocks with run-in sheds, one of which is half-shed, half-hay storage and the other is half-shed, half-outdoor stall (each 12 x12); two smaller paddocks, one of which doubles as a riding area, the other is attached to a fenced-off run with a lean-to stall for foaling (20 feet from the back door of the house); and we lease two similarly sized larger pastures from one neighbor and a big pasture from another neighbor. In order to keep our pastures in good grass, we can accomodate no more than ten horses at a time and, as a result, do not generally buy anything from anyone for any reason (so please don't ask). It's tough to prove a bloodline or a cross, and so we're no longer in the "experimental stage" you have to accept when you use unknown blood. It's nothing personal--it's just too expensive! |
